Osteopathy is a primary health care system, which is suitable for almost anyone and can alleviate an enormous range of conditions. Osteopaths primarily work through the neuro-musculo-skeletal system, mostly on muscles and joints and pay special attention to how the internal organs affect, and are affected by, that system. What is cranial Osteopathy? Cranial osteopathy is a subtle form of treatment that uses a gentle touch to bring the body's physical structure back into balance. It is extremely effective in treating a wide range of conditions, physical and emotional in people of all ages from birth to old age. CRANIAL OSTEOPATHY FOR INFANTS Many infant problems like colic, feeding difficulties, sleep disturbances, ear infections and glue ear m ay result from craniosacral imbalances during birth.Reflexology

Shelley Sheridan Member of the Association of Reflexologists
What is reflexology? Reflexology is an ancient healing art known to be more than 4000 years old. Today Reflexology is a complementary medical discipline in its own right. Careful pressure is applied with the fingers to the minute reflex points on and around the feet or the hands. This in turn has a stimulating effect on specific points of the body. Through this system of energy path ways, the therapist increases the innate capacity for self healing. Reflexology is a completely safe form of therapy, as well as being a very relaxing and pleasurable experience. The purpose of a course of treatment is to help normalize the body’s functioning, to help break down tension, alleviate stress, improve nerve functioning and blood supply throughout the whole of the body.

Treatment for Eating Disorders

Rachel McGuire RGN, DipHENurse Specialist in the treatment of young people with eating disorders
It is thought that 1.1 million people in the U.K are affected by an eating disorder, and young adults aged 14-25 are most at risk of developing this type of illness. (Disordered Eating 2007)
I am a Nurse Specialist with over 10 years of experience working with young adults and their families with eating disorders and associated difficulties in inpatient settings and more recently on an outpatient basis.
The need for sensitivity, discretion and understanding is paramount as sufferers can feel ashamed or embarrassed at the difficulties they are experiencing and so find themselves living a life of denial and deceit. Parents and families can believe they are to blame in some way and so may have concerns about how or where to seek support from outside sources
I offer a private and confidential service which is tailored to meet the needs of the individual and family and may involve consultation, motivational assessment, education, meal management advice, counselling and psychotherapy, C.B.T. techniques and creative imagination work.Eating Disorders are not just about food, eating and wanting to look a certain way. They are complex and often compensate for or serve to hide, other unexpressed or unresolved worries and concerns. For more information or if you have questions you may wish to ask please contact Rachel at the Verulam Clinic.
